PLAY THERAPY

"Enter into children's play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts and souls meet."  - Virginia Axline

PLAY THERAPY FOR CHILDREN

Play Therapy is one of the greatest gifts that parents can offer their child if they may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Like adults, children require a safe space to process difficult emotions and experiences from time to time. While adults tend to engage in more talk-based therapies, children communicate best at their own level and pace through play.

This medium is less threatening and allows a child to indirectly explore and resolve their inner struggles and fears at a safe distance. Play Therapy techniques can empower children and improve self-regulation and development. Children have the opportunity to express and process their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and can learn healthier ways of being.  The support of parents and feedback sessions form an important part of Play Therapy.
